Fixtures, Previews and Predictions 8/4/23

Northern Premier League – East Division Sheffield Vs Hebburn Town Following a 3-2 home defeat midweek at the hands ofOssett United, Sheffield find themselves just 2 points off the drop zone in what is a clustered bottom half of the table. Hebburn are a distant second to champions Worksop Town but are comfortably settled in the play off picture. Hebburn have been inconsistent as of late claiming 6 points out of the last 15 available so with one eye on the end of season play-offs this could be good timing for club to get those much needed three points. Prediction

Sheffield 1-2 Hebburn Town

Stockton vs Stocksbridge Stocksbridge can thank relegation threatened Grantham Town for creating a cushion between themselves and those out of the play off picture. As a result of the Gingerbreads 1-1 draw with Dunston, Stocksbridge are 5 points clear of their 7th placed rivals as they occupy the final play-off spot in the East division. Stockton Town are 2 places and 4 points above the Steels having netted 7 goals in their previous two games without reply. Stocksbridge come into the game unbeaten in their last four and should be confident of further solidifying their end of season play-off ambitions with a hard fought away win this Saturday.

Prediction Stockton 0-1 Stocksbridge

NCEL Premier Division

Frickley Athletic vs Goole AFC

After a huge overhaul in the summer, Frickley will be thankful to have cemented their Premier Division status after midweek results went their way. Frickley can relax somewhat given the circumstances but the same cannot be said for Goole AFC who with two games to go are three points from safety. Expect Goole to be right up for this one as their Premier Division status hangs in the balance following a run of 9 successive defeats.

Prediction

Frickley Athletic 2-2 Goole AFC.

Winterton Rangers vs Hallam FC

Winterton find themselves at the forefront of the playoff picture in the NCEL Premier with Emley AFC breathing down their neck in third. Emley require Winterton to drop points in this fixture as well as the Pewits winning all their remaining game in order to leapfrog Winterton right at the last. Free scoring Hallam have enjoyed 31 goals in all games since the beginning of February, emulating the form that took them all the way to the Division One title last year. Emley will be keeping everything crossed in hope that Winterton do not achieve maximum points in this fixture.

Prediction Winterton Rangers 2-2 Hallam FC

Emley AFC vs Barton Town Emley successfully dispatched Frickley Athletic midweek and have two more games remaining to push Winterton all the way. Barton Town have enjoyed a relatively successful season sitting in 7th position in the Premier Division despite still having four games left to play. They have taken 7 points from their last 5 games in comparison to the 11 points that Emley have taken from the same number of fixtures. We expect a home win and hope that Winterton come unstuck in their home fixture against the Countrymen.

Prediction Emley AFC 3-1 Barton Town
