Non-League Preview 18/02/23

Updated: Feb 18, 2023

!Another weekend of local non-league action is upon us and as always there’s plenty of local options for you to get your football fix this weekend

Stocksbridge Park Steels vs Worksop Town

We begin with a huge class at the top end of the Northern Premier League as Stocksbridge Park Steels play host to runaway leaders Worksop Town FC. Stocksbridge currently hold 4th spot in the league and will be looking to solidify this by being only the second team all season to defeat Worksop Town. The tigers find themselves 16 points clear of second place and have remained unbeaten in the league since the third game of the season. Despite their impressive season so far, it is difficult to see the Steels coming out on top of this one but they are more than capable of making this a closely fought contest up at Bracken Moor. Sheffieldfootball.com predicts an away win.

Sheffield FC vs Carlton Town

After two home defeats without scoring a goal in the league, Sheffield FC turned their fortunes around with a 2-0 win against Penistone Church in midweek, booking their semi-final spot in the Sheffield FA County Cup. Club will feel confident they can continue such positivity in the league as they face 19th placed Carlton Town. Carlton have only picked up six league wins this campaign with four of those coming away from home so will look to pick up a win that would see them move within three points of the World’s Oldest Club. Having only lost on three occasions at home all season, Sheffield will be confident they can produce the win that would help them climb the table and keep them looking onwards and upwards.

Sheffieldfootball.com predicts a home win.

Hallam vs Maltby Main

A superb local derby takes place between Hallam FC and Maltby Main at Sandygate this Saturday and a bumper crowd is expected for this NCEL Premier Division clash. 2 points separate the teams as the latter stages of the season approach and after a shaky start to the season Hallam have adjusted well to the Premier Division. Hallam are unbeaten in February (scoring 7 goals in the process) and will be looking to stretch that unbeaten run as a bare minimum at the World’s Oldest Ground. Maltby visit Hallam on the back of an impressive 3-2 win against Knaresbrough town in midweek in which they scored 2 goals in 2 minutes to turn around a 2-1 deficit. Maltby have been involved in many high scoring games this season so win, lose or draw; this one is set to be a cracker! Sheffieldfootball.com predicts a score draw.
